Collaboration between Flying Yellow and any client is an important key to the success of a new design, and is a core value at Flying Yellow.
At Flying Yellow, we take the time to understand the project, to ensure the end result will deliver an optimal performance solution.
Energy Rating is the assessment of the efficiency of a building design. It calculates how much energy will be needed to heat or cool your house, to keep you physically and financially ‘comfortable’. As heating and cooling are the most significant contributors to greenhouse gas emissions (and costly energy bills).
We create a thermal 2-D simulation to determine the heating & cooling loads of the existing building or proposed design; an energy efficient building considered to be more comfortable and affordable to ‘run’ whilst also being more environmentally friendly.
Preliminary planning assessment
To provide initial feedback on the design, to help understand, it’s journey to achieving a complaint results, the approach that will be required to achieve a complaint results, details of thermal recommendations to help with the costing and design of the project
Post Planning Assessment
Review of the initial plan, updates as required, certification of the final compliant result
New Build assessment: Assessment of the design, recommendations to achieve a compliant result, certification of the project.
Alterations and extensions
Comparative Analysis Report OR Deem to Satisfy report. These approaches will understand the required star rating based on a relationship between the buildings star rating and the total building volume by using either the House Energy Rating Scheme (HERS) software, FR5, or an industry documentation to separately assess the existing house.
Bess Assessment
The Built Environment Sustainability Scorecard (BESS) is an assessment tool created by local governments in Victoria. It assists builders and developers to show how a proposed development demonstrates sustainable design, at the planning permit stage. It reviews everything within the context of the project
Section J assessment: Section J Reports or Compliance Assessments are associated with Volume One of the Building Code of Australia ( BCA ), Class 2 to 9, and relates to Energy Efficiency measures of a building. The objective is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, through energy efficiency
Flying Yellow provides Australia wide accredited energy ratings and NatHERS assessments for new homes, extensions and commercial buildings of any size.

We haven’t gone through the process of needing a thermal assessment before. The pace of the assessment meant we had time to get comfortable with the process, we appreciated being able to ask a lot of questions.
